About Awo Ifa World Perspective

Awo Ifa World Perspective Contributors

In the Western World the Universe is seen as a place of scarcity.  It is frequently seen as a place of evil and there is little belief in the ability of the Universe to communicate directly with human consciousness.

Ifa teaches that we live in a Universe of abundance; we live there as good and blessed people who can communicate directly with the consciousness in Nature.  The conflict between these two worldviews creates a conflict in the way that Ifa scripture is interpreted.  This blog is an examination of that conflict and an attempt to reclaim the original vision of the Prophet Orunmila.

Ire,
Awo Falokun

The Ifa Corpus covers all aspects of life as well as the origin of life and creation (also known as Ifa Cosmology). This perspective is unapologetically African in nature.  It is my aspiration to create and maintain a platform to share popular as well as unpopular Ifa World Perspective on various subjects affecting human life.  My aspiration is supported by a verse from the Holy Odu Ogbe-Ofun, which reads:

Baba Hala-holo
Baba Hala-holo
We do not know where Ifa had put its eyes (groves)
Baba Hala-holo
These were the declaration of Ifa to Orunmila
When coming from heaven to Earth
He advised to offer sacrifice
He complied.
Behold, Baba Hala-holo
Baba Hala-holo
The eyes (groves) of Ifa are all over the world
Baba Hala-holo
The Deity which made the whole world its grove
Baba Hala-holo

My intent is to stimulate the consciousness of my students and contemporaries.  To validate that we as Ifa Practitioners are indeed involved in making the world a better place for our children and children’s children and beyond.  To validate that we are a functioning part of the world society and are not limited to a specific sector or way of thinking.  It is my belief that though Ifa has its point of origin, it’s wisdom extends beyond a physical place.

Ika-npoyinka’won;
Owon was laughing.
This was divined for people at Ife-Ooye.
They were advised to sacrifice so that their enemies
might not remove them from their positions or relegate them
to the background…
The babalawo said: To Abariwon,
he who says that Ife should not expand will be destroyed on the earth.
Orunmila! We don’t say that Ife should not expand.
May we live long. May our track not be destroyed in the world.
